Interview with chief technologist Kurchakov Evgeny

— I sincerely wish for the beer under the "BLAMBERG" trademark to be known and recognizable throughout Russia.
What do you dream about?
— Yes. A line of beer and beer-based drinks for those who are ready to experiment is currently in development.
Can we expect any new products from the company?
— When producing non-alcoholic beer, it is very important that the taste does not differ from regular beer. For this, we use a blend of malts and special yeasts. Through triple hopping, we achieve an interesting hop aroma and noticeable bitterness, and thanks to the use of special technological techniques, not everyone can distinguish it by taste from regular varieties.
What is your favorite beer variety made from?
— "Blamberg O Zhivoye Myagkoye Bezalcoholnoye" (Blamberg O Live Soft Non-Alcoholic). I can enjoy my favorite taste without limitations.
What is your favorite beer variety?
— The opportunity for live communication with colleagues: everything is in order, and so are the seminars and knowledge exchange conferences, sharing experiences, and the opportunity to implement useful aspects into one's work. Often, interesting ideas are born in such moments, both for optimizing existing processes and for promising directions that are gradually being incorporated into our standards.
What is the most interesting thing about your work?
— Yes. The difficulty lies not in the work itself, but in finding people who share a common idea. It's rare to find highly specialized professionals on the job market, so we train them ourselves. The company practices staff training in the form of mentoring, lectures, and team competitions. We assign trainees to experienced workers who initiate them into all the secrets of the profession. Talks are held with staff in all shifts to assess their depth of understanding of the processes they manage; if necessary, explanatory work is carried out. At least twice a year, employees take an exam on their knowledge of technological processes, safety, industrial sanitation, internal labor discipline, and quality standards. Based on the exam results, we identify weak spots where we need to focus our attention.
Is it also difficult to work as a brewer?
— If we leave aside the large amount of paperwork, it's a creative job that involves developing new brands and constantly working with people to maintain the stability of existing ones. I am constantly within the team, working with people to improve their skills in technology, equipment operation, and the principles of correct and safe work on both existing and newly implemented equipment.
What does a brewer's work involve?
— To achieve a consistent beer taste from batch to batch. We have been brewing beer using unchanged recipes since the company's founding, so that our consumers get the taste they love and expect.
What is the most important thing in your work, in your opinion?
— Back in 10th grade, I saw a brochure for the Kemerovo Institute of Food Technology and decided to become a brewer. After getting my diploma as an engineer-technologist specializing in fermentation technology and winemaking, I worked in production companies, first as a technologist, then as a production manager, and finally as a chief engineer. I joined "Raduga" LLC in 2022.
Evgeny, how did you become a brewer?
